About Us
Improving the Quality of Life of Injured Persons – HolisticallyCaseMed Solutions is a privately held company originally formed and incorporated under Innovative Recovery Consultants, LLC in 1/1/2009.
Annette Carter, CaseMed’s CEO and co-founder of CaseMed Solutions, LLC, brought in a new management team to restructure CaseMed for growth and transition it to become a national company. One of Annette’s first actions was to transform the company into an employee and investor-owned company.
To restructure the company, Annette hired Dennis Steckler, CEO of DBCLink LLC ( a business and technology consulting firm), to rearchitect the business model and transform it into a national company. Dennis is now CaseMed’s COO.
Everything we do, through a variety of case management services, is focused on assisting our customers in support of their injured employees and insureds through providing the best understanding of their healthcare situation, rehabilitation plans, healthcare providers and financial stability options.
We specialize in worker's compensation and catastrophic brain/spinal injury cases.
The Ecosystem
Our first step in transforming the company into a holistic national service provider was to create InsurHealth Affinity Group, LLC. InsurHealth utilizes an “Ecosystem Business Model”. Investopedia defines a Business Ecosystem as:
“a network of organizations—including suppliers, distributors, customers, competitors, government agencies, and so on—involved in the delivery of a specific product or service through both competition and cooperation. The idea is that each entity in the ecosystem affects and is affected by the others, creating a constantly evolving relationship in which each entity must be flexible and adaptable in order to survive as in a biological ecosystem.”

Following in the Footsteps of Florence NightingaleAnnette Carter, R.N.,B.S.
Chief Executive OfficerAnnette Carter, from the beginning of her career, has been totally immersed in catastrophic medical trauma situations. This includes being a Lifeguard Flight Nurse providing emergency point-of-medical-services to seriously injured persons in difficult to reach locations. Annette is CaseMed’s medical treatment Yoda, if you will, and is deeply connected in the Colorado healthcare communities.
Ms. Carter’s career also involved background experiences in medical equipment solutions and was a co-founder of a new emergency medical technology and product patent. The taste of working in this healthcare field and then getting into case management led to starting CaseMed Solutions.
Annette and her husband live nestled in the beautiful mountains of Colorado where they find a peaceful and joyful life. One of Annette’s many interests include wellness and maintaining the level of activity that involves exploring the mountains with her border collies. Annette and her husband challenge and embrace life’s adventures every step of the way. As John Muir tells it, “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while care will drop off like autumn leave.”

Melissa Ryan
Senior Vice PresidentMelissa grew up in the Green Mountains of Vermont and is a University of Southern New Hampshire graduate. She has more than 20 years of industry knowledge and is licensed in 44 states. Melissa has adjusting experience with national accounts, large insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured companies.
Melissa has 20 plus years in the workers compensation insurance industry, beginning her career as an adjuster, then advancing to national management roles with Gallagher Bassett and Sompo International. Her Colorado claims activities led her to work with CaseMed Solutions, a nurse case management company. Melissa developed very efficient relationships with the nurses at CaseMed as well as other case management companies to best support the desired outcomes for employee claimant rehabilitation needs, the employee claimant’s employer, and that of her insurance claims management objectives.
Melissa joined InsurHealth Affinity Group as the SVP Claims in January 2023. Her primary role is to develop best practice claims and case management interactions and rehabilitation outcomes for injured persons with best outcomes for all parties involved in the claim. One such best practice was the introduction of Data-Sightline Claims Triage combining the efforts of Nurse Case Management, Medical Data Analytics from Care Bridge International and Claim Settlement Options from Arcadia Settlements Group. The Triage Program provides greater accuracy of the impacts and costs of claims while accelerating claims closures.
Now that Melissa lives in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, she is now an avid country music fan and has attended at least 15 Willie Nelson performances.
